Rothesay Villas :: Shared Description

Rothesay Villas, built 1892/3, stands near the site of the Boroughbury Barn, the Great Barn of the Abbot of Peterborough's manorial grange, dating from 1320.

The barn was sold to a property speculator in 1889, who sold off the fabric and built the terrace. some of the Barnack Ragstone is said to be re-used in the plinth of the terrace.

There is a fuller description on the Peterborough civic society web site, linked to the blue plaque they erected. See LinkExternal link
