Custom House London :: Shared Description

There has been a Custom House near this site on the Thames for 2000 years. The present one is the fifth since Roman times, dates from 1817, with major rebuilding after a collapse in 1825. The east wing was rebuilt 1962-66. The building is now occupied by HM Revenue and Customs. For Open House London in 2015 they put in a massive effort by staff to show not only the building but also their activities concerning alcohol, tobacco, fuel, drugs, VAT, endangered animal products, and even computer scams.
