Church of All Saints, Beckingham :: Shared Description

The church consists of aisled nave, chancel with north aisle, west tower, south porch and facilities block. It is relatively unusual in that the nave and chancel of the early 11th/12th century church became the north aisle when the current nave and south aisle were added in the 13th century. The tower and clerestory were added in the 15th century and most of the windows were rebuilt at around the same time so that the church appears fairly uniform in style from the outside.

The interior features the 13th century aisle arcades, and there is a Norman tub font (superseded by the current 19th century font), an early piscina and aumbry. The sedilia is a 19th century reconstruction, with apparently little original material.

The church is Listed Grade II*. For more information see LinkExternal link
