Entrance to Defence High Frequency Communications Service
On the old World War 2 Naval airfield - HMS Merganser or Crimond Airfield. The central part of the airfield has been retained for use by the Defence High Frequecy Communications Service (for voice communication with RN ships). Some of the nine aerial masts (up to 275 metres high) can be seen in the distance. Notices prohibit vehicles from stopping on the roadways nearby owing to radio frequency hazard.
