HMS Brecon - detail
HMS Brecon was launched and commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1979 as a Hunt class mine countermeasures vessel. She later became a patrol platform assigned to the Northern Ireland Squadron. A special claim to fame is that she was the first Royal Navy ship to be commanded by a woman when Lieutenant Charlotte Atkinson took over in January 2004. The ship was decommissioned in 2005 and became a static training ship here on the Lynher River for HMS Raleigh.
