White Cow Stane
White Cow Stane
The stone is mostly pure quartz, with some pegmatite veins. It is almost certainly an erratic dropped by a melting glacier at the end of the last Ice Age rather than an archaeological feature. It gave the name to the now vanished croft of Whitecow nearby.
