Lengthsman's Cottage, Stratford upon Avon Canal, Lowsonford, at dusk
This barrel-roofed cottage was built around 1812 for the lengthsman, who maintained the lock and the adjoining length of canal. Six cottages of this type were constructed along the southern section of the canal by the engineer William Whitmore and his men adapting techniques used to built the arches of bridges. This one, known as Ned's Cottage after a former occupant, is now a holiday cottage belonging to the Landmark Trust. LinkExternal link
