High quality wall alongside Readycon Dean reservoir
Most of the Victorian Pennine reservoirs were built by municipal corporations, who took a pride in building to high standards. This one was built by Oldham Corporation. The reservoir opened in 1883, and is the highest of three in the Denshaw waterworks system. The other two reservoirs are Crook Gate and Dowry. Information courtesy of the Saddleworth Historical Society's Bulletin. The restricted byway alongside forms part of the Pennine Bridleway.
