NY2828 : Salehow Beck from the bridleway to Skiddaw House

taken 5 months ago, 4 km from Applethwaite, Cumbria, Great Britain

Salehow Beck from the bridleway to Skiddaw House
Salehow Beck from the bridleway to Skiddaw House
Salehow Beck cuts a shallow valley among gentle heather-covered slopes east of Skiddaw on its way to join the River Caldew as a tributary almost equal in size. The snow-covered slopes above run from Lonscale Fell on the left to Little Man, he southern top of Skiddaw, on the right. The view is from where the bridleway to Skiddaw House just cuts the corner of this grid square after crossing the beck by a small footbridge. Yesterday's skiiable covering of snow is in rapid retreat as the sun shines and temperatures rise, though still in condition on the upper part of the slopes.
