On the right-hand edge of the photo can be seen the security fencing erected on Crackley Lane where the line will cross it SP2874 : HS2 enabling works, Crackley, February 2021 (29). In the background is Roughknowles Wood: only its southern corner will be affected. The low black plastic barriers are meant to prevent small creatures straying into the path of HS2. They roughly define the extent of the earthworks to come. The view is from footpath W167 which will be diverted west: see LinkExternal link
