Arden Beck heads into the forest
Arden Beck heads into the forest
Much augmented by a number of springs at the base of the Calcareous Grit Formation at the contact with the older Oxford Clay, Arden Beck flows down Thorodale, whose lower reaches are now heavily forested. Although there are many planted conifers, it is a mixed forest with both Norway and Sitka Spruce as well as European Larch and Pines (probably Scots). There's a healthy scattering of native deciduous trees, too.
