NZ0303 : Skegdale Head

Skegdale Head
Skegdale Head
A short track branches southeast from the main estate track to reach a flattened area at Hanging Crag Well, which has no obvious purpose - there are no grouse butts here and it seems an unlikely spot to build a shooting hut, though new ones do seem to be popping up all over the moor. For a geographer, it provides the only dryshod access into this grid square (only just) so I suppose I should welcome its presence. It obviously also provides a handy route of retreat to the better quality main route across the moor.
