Old bridge at Lonmore / Seann dr˛chaid an L˛in Mh˛ir
As pre-1969 maps show, this bridge originally carried the A863 road from Sligachan into Dunvegan, which deviated from its straight-line course to cross the River Horneval ("eagles' fell") at a suitable point. Since the modern bridge was completed it has served only as an auxiliary access to the end house in Maclean Terrace, a row of dwellings built on the line of the old road.

The district of Lonmore (or Lonemore) takes its name from the L˛n M˛r or "great marsh" where the lower reaches of the river (Abhainn an L˛in Mh˛ir) wind sluggishly to their outflow at the head of Loch Dunvegan. The hills in the background are Cnoc an Droma Fhada ("hillock of the long ridge") and Ben Vic Askill (MacAskill's Peak), and rise to around 180m (590 feet).
