New planting in Hayley Wood
New planting in Hayley Wood
Hayley Wood is mentioned in the Domesday survey of 1086 and once belonged to the Bishops of Ely. It has been managed for many centuries and is one of the largest ancient woodlands in Cambridgeshire. A leaflet produced by the local Wildlife trusts tells us that the "mosaic of dense woodland, coppice plots and open rides and glades provides perfect conditions for many different plants, animals and fungi."
