The Grade II listed LinkExternal link Llangollen War Memorial commemorates those men of the Llangollen and Llandysilio parishes who died during World War I and World War II. The memorial, a high standing carved Celtic Cross, stood in Castle Street, at its junction with Bridge Street, in the centre of the town. The main memorial shows the general commemoration on the front face, and commemorates the names of 71 Llangollen men who died in WW1 on one side and the rear face, whilst on the last face commemorates the men from the parish of Llantysilio, 12 of whom died in WW1 and 3 in WW2.

Close by is a smaller, square monument commemorating 29 men from Llangollen who fell in WW2. All the lettering is incised in gold letters and the names are arranged in surname alphabetical order. Around the base of the plinth are epitaphs in Welsh and English.

In 2018 the memorial was resited close by in the newly created Centenary Square/Sgwr Canmlwyddiant. New seating was added as part of extensive landscaping works, including four semi-mature Liquidambar trees and new eco-friendly paving. The square was opened on 8th July 2018 by Terry Waite.
