WWII bunker near Netherton
WWII bunker near Netherton
This World War II bunker which today is almost hidden in vegetation provided protection to those who operated a Bombing Decoy Site ("Q-Site"). The site acted as a decoy for Pershore airfield which is situated some four miles to the north. The decoy airfield code named a "Q-Site" by the Air Ministry simulated the flare path and landing lights of an operational airfield at night. Constructed in 1940, the site was bombed once while nearby Pershore airfield was bombed twice. The wall in the foreground is a protective blast wall. I previously visited this site in July 2010 SO9942 : WWII bunker near Netherton.
