This is the southerly of two fishing ponds in the area known as Tibshelf Ponds, which lies at the southern end of The Five Pits Trail. The area occupies the site of Tibshelf Old Bottom Colliery.

Ahead, and to the right, is a SK4459 : Permissive footpath that runs through a narrow strip of woodland to SK4359 : The Silverhill Trail.
