River Sow flood plain south-west of Great Haywood, Staffordshire
River Sow flood plain south-west of Great Haywood, Staffordshire
Seen from the canal, this telephoto assisted image across the River Sow flood plain is about three miles east-south-east of Stafford town centre. This land is very marshy in winter, and is regularly flooded following heavy rain. The river flows from left to right (along the edge of the tree-line) towards the River Trent about two miles north-north-east. The rough pasture is grazed occasionally in summer, but is often waterlogged or flooded at other times of the year.
