Interior detail of Senate House, Malet Street (2)
The main galleried stairhall shows the attention to detail (and the 'hang the expense' spirit) displayed by the architect Charles Holden throughout the building. Clad in Travertine marble, bronze for the lamps and balustrades. The main motif in the ceiling decoration is the leaf of the London Plane.
