SE6785 : Kirkdale and St Gregory's Minster

Kirkdale and St Gregory's Minster
Kirkdale and St Gregory's Minster
The Hodge Beck was completely dry through the valley here, as a result of dry(ish) winter and spring, with almost no rain through May to this point (14th).
However it usually flows largely underground (through cracks in the limestone) anyway here, except when flow is rather above normal.

The Dove and Hutton Beck a little to the east have a similar underground section which has recently been explored by York Caving Club and is in places surprisingly large inside.
