Temple Newsam - vandalised bus shelter
Temple Newsam - vandalised bus shelter
This one was not alone, there were reports in local media the same week of several other bus shelters in East Leeds being vandalised.

What is now the bus terminus at Temple Newsam used to be served by trams: see SE3532 : Temple Newsam tram terminus, Leeds for Neil Clifton's view 60 years earlier. The frequency of service is no better now, or worse - one bus an hour at weekends from April to August only. Coming in February, we had to make our own way on foot from the nearest bus stop 2 miles away.
Temple Newsam :: SE3432

A large country estate a few miles east of the city of Leeds, Temple Newsam dates back to Norman times and took its name from ownership by the Knights Templar in the 12th century. After a complex history (see Wikipedia etc. for more details) it is now owned by Leeds City Council. There is a charge for entry to the house and educational farm, but the extensive grounds, mostly landscaped by 'Capability' Brown, are free to use and are crossed by several public footpaths.

The house itself is listed grade 1, the stable block grade 2* and several other features grade 2; the park as a whole is listed under "parks and gardens".
