SP3645 : Mirror Lake, Upton House

Mirror Lake, Upton House
Mirror Lake, Upton House
Mirror Lake below the gardens at Upton House is currently drained due to it leaking. Puddled clay was placed in the bed to hold the lake's water, unfortunately it has become porous and needs to be relaid. The lake was drained during the Second World War so enemy aircraft could not use the lake as a navigation aid. It is a coincidence that the house is currently set out as it would have been during the war when Samuels Bank was moved here, safely away from the London blitz.
