The highly unusual sight of a CalMac ferry in Belfast Lough off Bangor. The 'Hallaig' LinkExternal link is seen here heading for Bangor harbour for a stopover en-route back to Skye after servicing at Cammell Laird, Liverpool. The ferry normally runs on the Sconser-Raasay service - see LinkExternal link for further information.

Caledonian MacBrayne Limited (CalMac) was formed in 1973 following the merger of the Caledonian Steam Packet Limited and David MacBrayne Limited. Ownership passed to the Secretary of State for Scotland in 1990 and is now vested with the Scottish Government.
