Welford: Medieval Fish Pond
Welford: Medieval Fish Pond
The fish pond was created by the construction of a dam across the valley of a minor tributary stream of the River Avon. The stream runs to the left of the pond in this view, with the pond being watered by a leat off the stream about 200 metres upstream that drains into the pond on the right. The pond is about 75 metres long by about 35 metres wide and has an island in the middle.
