Grade II* listed

The church started in 1873 as a place for the spiritual welfare of the increasing population, partly due to the growth of the cricket bat industry of Messers. Duke & Sons.
The original church was an iron structure to the east of the current building, and services continued for some 14 years. Eventually it was decided to build a permanent church in 1898, the designer being John Bentley (designer of Westminster Cathedral). The work took seven years and the new church was consecrated in 1905.

The church is built in Bath stone and brick with a tower rising to a height of 45 feet with battlemented parapets and pinnacles. Currently there is only one bell, but there is provision for a peal.
There is a north west entrance porch, with a sculptured winged bull, the emblem of Saint Luke, above the door.

The interior of the church is quite plain, consisting of nave with wagon roof and steps up to a chancel with two Bay arcades opening to the organ chamber and a north Chapel. The east window is a crucifixion scene by W. G. von Glehn, who also did a window in the south chancel.

The font is made of Cippolini marble, an unusual green-streaked stone.
