My late mother and her siblings attended this school in the 1930s. One of the teachers was a relative and one family member was sharply told off for calling her 'Auntie' - "when we're at school" she was told "it's Miss Owen". Family reunions have been held here and school registers from those days produced. Another pupil here, an evacuee, was the late Julian Critchley MP (Member of Parliament), who lived with his relatives at Leamoor Common. His autobiography, 'A Bag Of Boiled Sweets', published by Faber and Faber in 1994, gives a flavour of what life was like in the village in those days. He, with many others and our mother, now are at rest in the churchyard. Time photo taken not available.
