North Muskham slipway
At the Muskham Ferry pub, but not quite the location of the ferry jetty.
The ferry remained important until the 1930s; Holme was part of the parish of North Muskham, due to the fact that in medieval times the River Trent ran to the east of Holme, and until 1936 children from Holme still attended school in North Muskham. From that date they went to Collingham. The ferry effectively ceased during World War II, due to the ferryman being attached to the Auxiliary Fire Service. It never resumed afterwards.
River Trent

The River Trent is the third longest river in England (185 miles). It rises on Biddolph Moor, Staffordshire, then follows a generally north east to northerly path to join the River Ouse at Trent Falls. The Ouse & Trent combined form the Humber Estuary.
It is a very important river, economically having a number of Power Stations and industrial sites along its banks. It is navigable as far as Burton-On-Trent.
