This, the Hythe Pier Railway, is the oldest pier railway in the world. The pier itself was opened in 1881 and the narrow gauge (2 ft) railway was added in 1909 after it was found that the trucks being used for transport were damaging the planking. Time taken 8.25 pm BST (British Summer Time).
