Cefn Coed Colliery Museum - steam capstan
Horizontal single cylinder capstan by Llewellyn & Cubitt of Pentre. The slide valve cylinder is c12" x 18" with Stephenson reverse gear and drives two drums. It was used until c1977/8. This would have been used for changing the winding ropes on the steam winder in the building behind.
