The Castle Hotel was built in 1719 by order of the Duke of Chandos and it occupies the site of the former castle. The land was once in the ownership of Edwin Shakehead, cured of the palsy in the late 8th century and he subsequently presented the land to the Bishops of Hereford. Time taken 12.35 pm BST (British Summer Time).
