Now in the days of the horseless carriage 1-Bishops Castle, Shropshire
The castle was built by Norman bishops of Hereford, as Marcher Lords responsible for the defence of the borderlands between England and Wales. By the end of the Civil War the castle was a ruin and this area is virtually all that remains. Buildings along Castle Street and Church Street are thought to be on the site of the outer boundary of the castle. The town was on a drovers route from Montgomery and the drovers may have looked on modern livestock transport with considerable disdain. Time taken 12.27 pm BST (British Summer Time).
