175th Anniversary of the Forfarshire rescue
The Mersey class lifeboat "Grace Darling" comes into Seahouses harbour as part of the special events programme remembering the heroism of Grace and her father in their brave rescue of survivors from the stricken paddle-steamer "Forfarshire" on 7th September 1838, see LinkExternal link . The Longstone Light of which William Darling was the chief keeper, and from where the rescue was carried out, is on the horizon to the right of picture.
