Remains of railway embankment over Avon floodplain
Work is now well under way on the removal of the former railway embankment at Tewkesbury. The remains can be seen here viewed from below Mythe Hill. The railway line from Ashchurch to Great Malvern opened in May 1864, and closed to passengers in August 1961. The stretch between Upton-upon-Severn and Great Malvern closed earlier, in December 1952.
