Entrance to Albert Dock, Liverpool
Entrance to Albert Dock, Liverpool
Almost identical to SJ3389 : Albert Dock scene, Liverpool, taken nearly three years earlier. In the foreground is the capstan for the swing bridge across the dock entrance; both bridge and capstan were made by the Haigh Foundry of Wigan in 1842-3, and designed by Jesse Hartley who also designed the warehouses in the background (SJ3489 : Merseyside Maritime Museum, Albert Dock, Liverpool).
