The Dungeness Branch line terminates here.
Dungeness Branch Line

A single track railway line, running between Appledore and Dungeness, which branches off the Hastings and Ashford, The Marshlink Line.
Opened in 1881 after local pressure to open a line to Lydd and because of the possibility of a new cross channel port at Dungeness, which was never constructed.

Closed to passengers after the 1963 Beeching report, the line was still used for aggregates from Dungeness power station until 1971. Its reopening to passengers has been discussed, however the large number of lane and farm crossings along the line make it unlikely.

The line is still intact between the Marshlink Line and Romney Junction, and is occasionally used by troop trains.
