The grid for Lea Green Railway Station
The grid for Lea Green Railway Station
Lea Green Station is a fairly new station on the line from Liverpool to Manchester, it was along this route that the Rainhill Trials took place and Rocket in the picture won those trials. It was also on this line just a short distance from the new station that the very first railway fatality happened.
Another bit of history from very close to this station is, the very first railway bridge taking one railway line over and above another very close to St.Helens Junction Station only a few hundred yards towards Manchester from Lea Green platform, though the railway passing over the main line is now no longer in use the bridge is still there and goes un-noticed and un-kempt.
