Female Kingfisher - River Ogmore
Female Kingfisher - River Ogmore
On its passage to the sea the Ogmore flows from the hills to the west of the Rhondda through the wooded Ogmore Vale. Inevitably it collects all manner of detritus some of which occasionally strands itself on the boulder strewn edges of bends and islands on the lower reaches. Branches and larger sections of trees afford additional perches other than bankside vegetation for Kingfishers to fish from or just to rest for a while as they dash up and down the river in a flash of iridescent blue, often unnoticed by those strolling the river banks.
