Aire Puist agus Telegrafa cable marker, Dunfanaghy
A cable marker post for the now defunct Aire Puist agus Telegrafa (Minister/Ministry for Posts and Telegraphs) in Dunfanaghy. Partially buried, it may well have had a plate giving the distance in feet and inches from post to the nearest underground cable. Aire Puist agus Telegrafa was the Irish equivalent of the British General Post Office and existed from 1924 until 1984 when it was split into An Post (post) and Telecom Éireann (telecommunications). This was one of several cable marker posts I noticed in the area - another was almost identical to J4881 : GPO cable marker, Bangor but with the P&T logo (it was too dark to photograph it!).
