Junction of dry-stone walls
Junction of dry-stone walls
These walls are shown on the 1:25000 map. A rivet bench mark is located at the junction, on top of the gatepost that can be seen there: NS3778 : Bench mark, Carman Muir

In the background on the left, shaded by cloud, are the lower slopes of Carman Hill. NS3779 : Millburn Muir transmitter is visible there, beside a clump of trees. The spreading hill just to the right of the mast is Gualann (NS4594), with Ben Ledi (NN5609) behind it on the right.

In the distance, directly behind the centre of the gate, is the small dark wooded hill known as NS4385 : The Dumpling (Duncryne Hill); just visible behind the right-hand side of that hill is the much more distant Beinn Dearg ridge (NS5803).

The heavy iron gate on the right was not, at this time, supported on the gate posts, but was slumped against the wall. By the end of 2014, it had been replaced by NS3778 : A new gate, and the area of rough ground in the right foreground (south of the gate) had been ploughed up: NS3778 : Ploughed field.
