This hop field has been planted in the last few years. It is only 10 feet high and the rows wider apart so that it can be picked by machinery, rather than taller bines which are cut off by a worker.

A traditional Hop Field, or Hop Garden, was formed by rows of poles or strings 16 feet high. Modern fields are about 10 feet high.
