Hole Ford
The White Cart Water at Hole Ford looking upstream. The remains of a pier that once supported Holehouse Bridge LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) can be seen behind the depth gauge on the South Lanarkshire riverbank. The bridge provided a useful means of crossing the river, by foot at least, in times of high water and remained in place till at least 1947. The warning sign on the opposite side of the river usefully advises motorists to 'try your brakes'!
