Joseph Sankey & Sons Ltd

Representative of the heavier end of iron and steel production at their Manor Iron Works and Albert Street Works in Bilston. Production of Submarine mines. Howitzer shells, aeroplane bombs, depth charges, paravanes, aeroplane pressings, sheet metal work and general stamping. Steel sheet rolling for electrical and aircraft purposes. Of the 2096 employees 617 were female. The Albert Works site produced 5.5 million of the mark 1 Brodie steel helmets. Many thousands of lives were saved due to the steel helmet produced in Bilston.

Became part of GKN in the 1920s and continued until the 1980s. The sites have been redeveloped.
